The journal article talks about the difficulties faced by single parent families, such as emotional problems, housing stress, and financial stress. It generated different views from different publications and suggested an approach to meet the needs of single parents. There is no doubt that children and parents in single-parent families would face emotional, personality and interpersonal problems to a greater or lesser extent. This discussion paper does not aim to go further in exploring the above symptoms and the associated impacts in their lives or in society. Instead, I would like to go further and modify what single parents should know and highlight some ideas about what families, school and our society could do, in an effort to help these families. Single parents are defined as mothers or fathers who are widowed, divorced or separated, who assume responsibility for raising one or more children under the age of 18 in the same household. According to statistical data provided by the Department of Census and Statistics, the total number of single-parent families increased from 34,538 in 1991 to 72,326 in 2006. This means an annual increase of 2,500 households. And the report predicts an upward trend in the future. We must therefore pay attention to this situation and government policies must be adapted accordingly. So, what could single parents do to keep their children in a relatively better environment? and problem of perspective. They usually complain and reject their responsibilities, they can easily fall into pessimism and are unwilling to bear the uncertain risk of life. Caritas Hong Kong Family Services etc. Through this support or social assistance, the aim is to re-establish their interpersonal communication and expand their social network, so that they can acquire the confidence necessary to face the challenges and difficulties of their daily lives. “Child care” is critically important to families with young children because it frees up labor so single parents can rely on themselves. In short, our society should not discriminate against them or give them a negative label. We must not ignore the importance of cooperation between family, school and our society.
