  • Essay / Gaia, God and the Big Bang - 1069

“In the beginning…” These words begin the book of Genesis, probably the greatest opening phrase of any narrative. This biblical phrase is absolutely paramount given that questions of existence and manifestation are at the heart of human nature. Given that there are no YouTube videos of the Big Bang, the Judeo-Christian God, or Gaia creating order from Chaos, humans should not rely on folklore, legends, and myths passed down from generation to generation. generation to construct explanations or rely on the discoveries of researchers and scientists. The question now is how to transform these fundamental questions of creation into a profitable game, aimed at educating, entertaining, engaging and appealing to a mass market. For the aforementioned purpose, three potential myths include the Greek myth of Gaia. creating order from Chaos representing pagan mythology; the creation myth found in the book Genesis, the Judeo-Christian solution to existence; and the Big Bang theory presented by scientists as the act of the material world. These fables are part of popular culture and common knowledge. Here are brief descriptions of pagan, biblical, and scientific creation myths. As noted previously, Gaia was the central personality of the creation myth of Greek cosmology. Gaia predates God and scientific theories of the Big Bang. According to the Theoi Greek Mythology website, Gaia was the mother of the earth. She emerged from chaos and gave birth to creation. She loved Uranus, god of the sky. She was the great mother of all gods, creatures and humans that existed in the heavens, sea, earth and hell. She was both a protective, loving and interfering mother and wife. She propelled her children into the world of paper life (NASA). These three theories of creation provide an interesting backdrop for an engaging game. Each myth offers characters, drama and conflict and offers the opportunity to play. The opportunity to incorporate one or all three myths into game development is predictable due to the compelling story arcs, the familiar nature of these stories, and, as myths are part of popular culture, the possibility of inspire from a wide demographic.
