A Detailed Job/Position DescriptionThe job I plan to do with Kinesiology as my specialty is to become a Physical Therapist, also known as a PT. Their primary job is to help patients rehabilitate from disabling injuries such as fractures, arthritis, and lower back pain. Their duty is to help patients relieve pain, increase mobility and reduce long-term physical disabilities. Physical therapists focus on assessing each patient's strength, balance, range of motion, coordination, endurance and posture. Their patients can be in different age groups, from infants to grandparents. The age group would be offered a variety of therapeutic exercises for each of the health problems they have. Depending on their age, the therapist would decide what exercise would be appropriate for their injury. Although people may experience the same injury as another person, the therapy would be different for another since everyone has a different and unique body. The age of the person will also affect the injury treatment factor since a person's activity generally decreases as they age. When a patient presents with swelling and pain, physical therapists use massage, cold and warm compresses, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation to relieve the pain or health problem. They help patients use equipment to aid their mobility, such as wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs.
