  • Essay / Juvenile crimes - 665

Alexus EllisEnglish 11Mrs. MurphyFebruary 12, 2014Should juveniles be tried as adults? In some states, the term "juvenile" is seventeen years of age or younger. All states are different, minors can also be adults between the ages of 15 and 18 (Merrefield). If a minor commits a crime for which an adult would be charged and serve time in prison, they should do so as well. If the minor has committed crimes such as murder, possession of illegal drugs, or perhaps done something to be fined, he or she must pay the amount like an adult. It is up to the judge to decide on the type of sentence the minor receives and the length of his sentence. It depends on the facts of the crime and its seriousness. Usually they fine you for lesser crimes and use prison for more serious crimes. If he is old enough to commit the crime, he can also serve that sentence, regardless of his age. If a person is a minor, they must be placed in a detention center until they turn 18 to be formally charged as an adult. . Crimes in the world today are becoming a major problem because most of the crimes today are committed by minors. Most juvenile delinquents are not born to behave badly or to have the instinct to commit the crimes they have committed. I think it starts with family and how they were raised and which family members pushed them to commit criminal acts. Not only do they learn this from their family, but they could have learned this stuff from friends they have been around or maybe from TV shows. Some juveniles are linked to gangs and most crimes involve the death of people. Somehow minors may be able to achieve this more easily than someone who is already 18 years old. Juveniles should be detained until their court date or release on bail just in the middle of a paper......everywhere in the world should be tried as an adult because a crime is a crime, no matter who committed it and no matter how old they are. If the judge dismisses the charges against the juveniles because of their age, they will most likely commit even more serious crimes later. They will have a record that follows them for the rest of their lives and will be charged as adults, which should prevent them from having access to weapons such as knives and other registered weapons. Keep minors and other suspects involved in criminal activity away. the street would make the world a better place. This will also reduce the crime rate in the United States.BibliographyAsk. 25 12 2013.Bryan Hancock, C. and Casey, S. EAPL Student Society. 17 1 2010.Hchs.
