    My scientific report addresses the question of whether a corked aluminum bat hits a ball further than a regular aluminum bat. But before we get into those boring science topics, I'm going to tell you about the history of baseball. Baseball originated in the United States before the Civil War (1861-1865), the game was called rounders and was played on sand fields. The first professional team was founded in Cincinnati in 1869. During the 1950s and 1960s, the MLB really took off, it was the time of the expansion of the American League and the National League. Then new turf fields and new, bigger stadiums changed the game forever in the '80s. But in the '90s, it was all about home runs. There have been 245,913 home runs in MLB history, and that's where the physics of cheating in baseball comes in. There are several ways to cheat in baseball, the biggest being steroids or HGH (human growth hormone). Another way is to cork your bat, and that's the goal of my experiment. Now I don't use wooden bats like MLB does, I use 2 aluminum bats, one bite and one normal. A bat, I'll take the top off and I'll put in some type of ball or substance that will make that bat bounce more, like a few racket balls or something like that. The theory is to make the ball go much further than with just a regular bat. The experiment requires wooden bats, but I modified it slightly and used aluminum bats because that seems more interesting to me. I chose this experiment because I really like baseball and this one stood out to me more than anything else on sciencebuddies. Now what I will need for this experiment are two aluminum bats, they don't have to be the exact same bat, but they will be the same length and weight. I will need some racket balls and will probably try it with bou...... middle of paper ...... g so the balls travel a considerable distance further than a simple bat made of ordinary aluminum. I'm going to set everything up on the football field and hit twenty-five baseballs with each bat so that I can extract a significant amount of data from each bat. I'm going to set up my swing machine in an end zone in case my balls fly that far. After hitting each ball, I will measure each hit one by one and at the end I will add them up for each bat. I will then average it and see which had the best trampoline effect.
