Macklemore once said, “Bullying is a national epidemic. » This quote actually takes all types of bullying and puts them into one category, an epidemic. Webster's Dictionary defines epidemic as "affecting or tending to affect simultaneously a disproportionate number of individuals within a population, community, or region." (Webster.com) This is true because of the wide range of communities and age groups that bullying can actually affect. At least one in six students are victims of bullying, whether it is online, verbal or physical bullying. (Nbcnews.com) It all starts in preschool, where most students will face or become bullied by their school over the next dozen years, then into college and even after high school. In preschool, teachers reported that bullying is common. this is not a rare phenomenon. (Family.go.com) They constantly notice that the bigger kids in each class realize that they are bigger and stronger. This leads them to exercise their power for the sake of being the biggest kid in school. What he or she doesn't understand is that they are creating a basis for bullying in the life of every student they torture. This can cause problems in a young student's life before they even have a chance to really grow up and defend themselves. Being tortured so early leads to problems with self-confidence and emotional stability. This is not only bad, but it becomes a nightmare when society realizes that because of this experience, these students will always be harassed and harassed. The foundation was laid in kindergarten and now the confidence to stand up for themselves simply depends on the people around them. One can only hope that there is a brave soul out there who will stick to the middle of paper... the decision one makes for themselves. Bullying will forever affect schools around the world, and it matters. know the ways in which school authorities and parents can help end the effects of bullying on society and keep children safe and happy.
