  • Essay / Freedom Final - 1441

For as long as I can remember, I have visited the Smithsonian museums in Washington DC. I grew up very close to the area and always loved seeing the things I learned in my social studies classes in real life. life: the Constitution, the Star-Spangled Banner, the Declaration of Independence, the Lincoln Memorial and much more. The whole city reminds me how many people fought for the freedom we enjoy today. Throughout this course, I realized that things are not the way they have always been. The fantasies of a perfect nation that I had created in my mind as a child changed. Think about it, how important is tradition to you? For my family, tradition is very important and appreciated. Every year at Christmas we do the same thing, we gather at my grandparents' house, make homemade pizza and Italian desserts and exchange gifts. Last year I decided to go on a mission trip to Bolivia over Christmas break and not return home. My family understood but was still sad that a small piece of our tradition was gone. We broke away from Britain but found a new enemy: ourselves. Since our founding fathers offered us the chance to live freely in the natural environment...... paper ......y but never specified; therefore, people are now taking advantage of the good, and that is wrong. In conclusion, America is constantly evolving, everything is changing, some things are for the better and some are for the worse. The only way we can smoothly adapt to changes is to be a community with a common goal. I think the changes I mentioned were all at some point in the hopes of making things better. Freedom of religion is under test and we must keep it in check. The rights granted to everyone are also questioned, and we must not forget that everyone has the right to be treated equally. Finally, we all still have freedom of speech but we cannot take advantage of it for our own selfishness. It is important to know where the country has evolved from so that you can appreciate the positive progress that is being made or prevent the bad ones from occurring...
