Essay / Medieval Europe - 754
GLOBAL 9ESSAY ON THE MEDIEVAL PERIOD THE PERIOD BETWEEN 400 AD AND 1400 AD A “DARK AGE” FOR EUROPE? 1400 AD, are often referred to as the “Dark Ages”. This period began after a turning point known as the Fall of Rome. This divided Rome into two well-known civilizations: medieval Europe, Islam, and the Byzantine Empire. Furthermore, medieval Europe led to a well-known utopian period of "renaissance", known as the Renaissance. The period between 400 CE and 1400 CE was not a "dark age" for Europe due to advances in educational achievement, flourishing architecture, and religious unity with government. It was not a decline or cultural decline because of the legendary period it led to. Europe had a good economy at one point in its history, according to the development of early civilizations written in Document B: "From 1000 to 1300, the European economy grew and prospered. Available agricultural land tripled and food supplies increased dramatically, increasing the population” (Document B). Some problems were active during this period, but economic failure was not one of them according to Document B. Europeans were able to resettle and continue to farm on nutritious land because of the land available during this period. That's not all, not only has the economy grown, but the education system has taken a big step towards the future. According to Document E titled The Rise of Universities, “From the early 11th century, universities were founded throughout Europe,” many students around the world still attend universities today. This is very common in Europe today. At that time, monks were trained in these universities, but as time progressed, they began to write...... middle of paper...... "...that they lose their business, or be stripped of everything, beaten publicly in the presence of people,” the laws were taken very seriously and had consequences for them People feared and followed all laws (Document D). The period between 400 CE and 1400 CE was not a "dark age" for Europe due to advances in educational achievement, flourishing architecture, and religious unity as well as improvements in government. This period was not a decadence or decline because it did not die out but transmitted its discoveries and its interpretation of the world. It was perhaps not the "best" period in European history. but it was certainly not dark and horrible as we think. If it declined or deteriorated, there would be a different civilization on this earth today. Medieval Europe should not be called "dark", as it had important and refined aspects that made it simply "Medieval Europe ».”.
