In his speech at Wellesley High School's Class of 2012 graduation ceremony, Mr. McCullough delivers a scathing critique of the "Me Generation," modern youth with its popular cultures and modern philosophies. Mr. McCullough's scathing criticism of "Generation Me" was justified and insightful because youth YOLO is corrupt, Generation Me people do things to show off, and Generation Me is extremely self-centered. meaning and simple words to describe how corrupt, self-centered and show-offy the “Me Generation” is. Mr McCullough believes modern people are too busy celebrating their achievements to realize they are not special. McCullough's criticism is justified and insightful because the new generation's YOLO, You Only Live Once is not a good thing. Toward the end of the speech, while explaining why "Generation Me" people use YOLO instead of YLOO, Mr. McCullough states, "...because you can and must live not just once, but every day of your life ...rather than You Only Live Once, it should be You Only Live Once...but since YLOO doesn't sound the same, we shrug and decide that doesn't matter.. » (BBROWN). As he explains, the Me Generation tends to choose YOLO because they don't find pleasure in being a good human being. Where a good human being helps others for the sole purpose of being helpful and helps people improve their lives, YOLO followers find no point in being kind and helpful and instead decide to be harsh and useless.
