Essay / The Importance of Teaching in Education - 783
Education is not just about gathering knowledge and skills. For many children, the education system structures who they will become as individuals and how they will shape society. This is an integral part of being an educator; a responsibility that must be taken seriously. To shoulder such responsibility, I agree that attentiveness is an essential trait of a teacher. As an educator, you take on the role of moral role model (Katz, 2007), and so the way you develop relationships or treat students can have a significant effect on how they develop into “moral persons.” . It is conceivable that teachers should be concerned about having such a responsibility; in fact, it should be the teacher's duty to take care of him. Obviously, caring is a broad term, but it can be simply defined as “behaving toward others with kindness, compassion, sensitivity, empathy, gentleness, and understanding” (Campbell, 2003, p. 33). Of course, there are different types of care; Caring for a lover or partner is different from caring for a child. However, there is an important message between the types of care: “in a meaningful relationship, care is mutual, each person cares about the other” (Mayeroff, 2007 p. 47). Furthermore, the meaning of caring should not be confused with the acts of “wishing well, loving, comforting and nurturing, or simply being interested in what happens to others” (Katz, 2007). It's not an isolated feeling, it develops within a relationship. It is therefore imperative to distinguish how important it is for a teacher to develop a relationship with their students and thus ensure that they help the student to grow, that is to say "taking care of another person, in the most significant sense, it is to help it grow and grow.” actualize” (Mayeroff 1971, p.1). Mayeroff argues that caring is... middle of paper... rather than about itself" (Mayeroff, 1971, p.39), this is often the case when caring another, because care is a process that must develop, we can say that it exists in all forms and at all stages of education. You may decide to go into education because you want to leave a positive impact on students, just as a teacher may have had on you. However, it is not just about gathering knowledge and skills. For many children, the education system structures who students will become as individuals and how they will shape society. As an educator, one is expected to be a role model and therefore the focus must go beyond education but also to the education of the students. This is an important part of being an educator; a responsibility that must be taken seriously, and it is therefore impossible to deny that kindness is an essential ingredient of the teaching profession..
