    World War I was started by a myriad of incentives, truly difficult to prevent. Although many key factors sparked the Great War, tangled alliances were the primary driving force. The founding of tangled alliances between 1881 and 1917 directly generated World War I through growing rivalries, growing national interest, and the drawing of nations into conflict. Rivalries between tangled alliances were a rigorous cause of the First World War. In 1882, the main central powers of Europe were separated into two fundamental groups very opposed to each other. The first group, the Triple Alliance, formed in 1882, brought together Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy. In response, France, Great Britain, and Russia formed the Triple Entente in 1907. These alliances were formed to protect each other should a tragic and catastrophic event occur. Several events have tested the bonds between the alliances.
