Prompt #1: Ethical judgments limit the methods available in the production of knowledge in the arts and natural sciences. Discuss. Many past and present events fall into the ethical gray area when it comes to the arts and natural sciences. These two areas of knowledge often generate more controversy than any other area when it comes to the ethical treatment of everyone involved. This controversy leads to the question to what extent being ethically correct has a higher value in society than acquiring knowledge. Some would argue that it is far more important to be ethically correct in all aspects of life, while others believe this should be assessed on a case-by-case basis. I tend to agree with the latter of the two. Although I generally believe in ethics in the arts, I wholeheartedly believe in case-by-case relationships in the natural sciences. The risk of learning more in science is undoubtedly much greater than the risk of sharing one's own knowledge in the art world. This risk gap is equivalent to the ethical violation gap. Often in science one life is at risk, or even many lives are at risk, whereas a person's well-being is at risk in the representation of art. In art, there is usually an option to not see the art as well. Unlike ethics, there is a difference in how knowledge is managed. In science, it makes sense that ethics comes before knowledge, but in art, there is less of an expectation to be ethically honest before acquiring knowledge..
