  • Essay / Terrorism and state terrorism: three types of terrorism

Types of terrorismThe topic of my article concerns the types of terrorism. There are several types of terrorism to choose from for my newspaper: state, dissident, religious, left versus right, and international. In this article, I have chosen state terrorism, religious terrorism, and international terrorism as the types of terrorism I will discuss. I will discuss what they are in my own words and give examples of two different groups for each type that represent this type of terrorism. Next, I will compare the three types of terrorism I chose. State terrorism is terrorism from above, meaning it is committed by governments against perceived enemies. It can be both an international external meaning or an internal national meaning. State terrorism is the official support of governments for policies of violence, repression and intimidation. It is directed against enemies that the state considers to be a threat to its interests or values. State terrorism uses many types and degrees of violence, including war, genocide, assassinations, and torture. War is the use of the conventional military forces of the state against an enemy, whether the enemy is external or internal, or whether they are a conventional combatant or a guerrilla force. Genocide is when the state uses its resources to eliminate a group. It does not differentiate between enemy combatants and enemy civilians, they are all considered enemies. Assassinations are selective applications of homicidal state violence where a single person or a selected group of people is singled out for elimination. Torture is an instrument of intimidation, interrogation and humiliation that is also used against a selected person or a group of people. There are parts... middle of paper... that can all be tied together while remaining their distinct types at the same time. State terrorism, religious terrorism and international terrorism are probably the three most prevalent types of terrorism in the world. When you look at where they're going, there's a lot going on in developing countries, and you can start to see the bigger picture. Terrorism is everywhere, even if it can be described in different ways depending on the region. But ultimately, this is a group that fights for a belief that they believe is right and true, and will fight by any means necessary to protect that belief from any perceived threat, real or not. History has shown us that terrorism has always existed, even if it has been described in different ways. It also showed us that this is an evolving tactic, proving that groups who feel threatened can and will use any means to protect or fight for what they believe..
