Essay / International Society for Technology in Education...
Standard 1We downloaded “Create A Ride” from the Google store as a first app for a standard app. The first ISTE standard aims to stimulate creativity and allow students to express themselves. In the game, students will create a car and customize it however they want. This is a great way for students to be creative and express themselves through their cars. This application is not really educational enough to be used in class, but I suggest it to parents of young students. This app supports 21st century skills because it is online and students will use phones, iPads or computers to build and create something. CAQ (Create Quiz/Test Creator) was our second app for a standard app. In this app students can create a quiz and practice it. This would be a great classroom tool that would allow students to study while still being in control of their learning. Alongside their studies, students explore and create new questions about the course content. In my class, I had students create a quiz, then swap with a partner and take it. Standard 2 The “Doctor Games” application is a good application for students to discover what it means to be a doctor and the application also offers several experiences to give variety to students and always move them forward in their educational goal. they choose to become a doctor or they are simply fascinated by it. Referring to the second standard, this application helps create an environment in which their knowledge can grow through their experiences in the application. This application would be more useful in the scientific field, specifically anatomy. In class this will be used to demonstrate specific surgical procedures on specific parts of the body. The “Grid Club” app ...... middle of paper ...... is updated regularly so there is always something new to learn. This relates to the fifth standard because it helps the educator keep up to date with current technology news. This could be useful in any field. In the classroom, the teacher can use what they have learned to create new lessons around what they have learned. “ClickerSchool Virtual Clicker” app is a way to connect students and teachers via smartphone, iPod, iPad, etc. These can be used for surveys. or classroom games requiring separate remote controls. Maybe a game of Jeopardy or if the teacher provides a survey for students to fill out or vote on. This is an innovative way to connect students using the things they use most in class: their phones/iPods. This relates to the fifth standard because it shows the technological prowess of the teacher. This might be useful in a history or civics class...
