Essay / As a future music educator, I am inspired by...
Educators are set up to guide us into an in-depth understanding of a subject and give us enough information to suffice without their immediate guidance . In piano lessons, our teachers have learned to use specific methods to develop the skills needed to become a pianist. From scales to sheet music reading, all lessons are used to gain lasting self-knowledge in order to write notes for our future choirs or assist in our own rehearsals in a rehearsal room. Guido d'Arezzo, music therapist, pedagogue and author of Micrologus suggested that lack of common knowledge is one of the main causes why an individual does not make appropriate efforts to achieve a complete understanding of the task. Guido Arentinus began his musical and educational journey as a monk with the Benedictines in Italy and established a reputation for his ability to study and teach music. Around 1025 he moved to Arezzo and was offered the responsibility of training the young singers of the city's cathedral to sing songs of memory and, eventually, acquire the ability to understand its innovations. After Guido realized that singers were not capable of singing a song without the help of their own teacher, he began to develop a method to encourage young singers to read and narrate the songs they sang, and expand their repertoire more quickly. pace. His end goal was to improve the musical learning process of his time. At that time, the current formula for learning a new song was to create muscle memory in the singer's voice for the different intervals at which the notes, played by the monochord, changed and simple repetition. Guido believed this process could be beneficial for beginners, but...... middle of paper...... Solmization syllables are a musical language that helps us clearly define intervals to read in choirs and groups. Guido's passion for music and educating people will continue to be recognized throughout music history. His techniques for shaping the minds of young and old to understand a whole new concept will forever be used in the classrooms of future musicians. Guido paved the way for everyone to interpret music in the simplest way he believed possible. His dedication not only to fulfilling his duty of training these singers but also future singers and musicians allowed the expansion of music and the growth of musical intuition..
