Essay / Minimum Wage - 1403
"Americans overwhelmingly agree that no person working full time should ever have to raise a family in poverty...so join the rest of the country. say yes. give America a raise” (President Barack Obama 2014). This quote shows that no human being who works hard at their job should ever be poor. This idea, among many others, was part of President Barack Obama's 2014 State of the Union address, promoting, while seeking, a year of change for all American citizens. As a citizen of the United States, one knows the economic difficulties and the increasing unemployment rate. These trends must be stopped, especially towards the poor and those who become more educated through college. This is why I, for one, agree with President Obama on raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. Slightly raising the minimum wage from $8.25 to $10.10 (an increase of just $1.85) will have a huge impact on Americans today and even Americans tomorrow. Raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would help millions, researchers say, thanks to the economic values of food prices, small business unemployment rates, students facing college debt and the poor living in a state of poverty. Small businesses and unemployment rates particularly influence the owners themselves when deciding whether to hire or fire their workers. Many economists believe that an increase in the minimum wage will slightly reduce the unemployment rate percentage, which is a big problem here in America. One researcher, Paul Krugman, a Keynesian economist, says: "There is no evidence that an increase in the minimum wage... would reduce employment." And that's actually a strong finding, because there have been many studies. » Krugman displays...... middle of paper ......bama said in his 2014 State of the Union address, 2014 is a year of promoting change. Additionally, the new minimum wage would allow poor people to get jobs earning more money to financially support their families. Small businesses won't have to let anyone go because, in the long run, financial incapacities will become obsolete and businesses will make more money without losing any. Overall, raising the minimum wage to $10.10 has many positive benefits, including a reduction in the unemployment rate, an increase in the minimum wage. food prices to help the economy and financial benefits for students seeking higher education at universities. The next step will be to wait for the process to end since the new bill has already passed with 87 votes in the House of Representatives. In the United States, it is essential that no one live in poverty or receive the higher education they dream of..
