Essay / Physician Assistant Program - 639
With many medical students often confused about what they really want to study, I have faced this problem myself and know that it is not is not so easy due to too many choices. There are many options ranging from healthcare to medical jobs. I wisely chose to enter the Physician Assistant (MA) program. Since I was a child I spent most of my childhood in hospital, I was diagnosed with a rare disease that needed to be treated constantly, this meant I had to go for checkups every three months , so I was close to doctors, surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, medical assistants, etc. I remember at first I was scared just at the thought of going to the doctor, but after a few visits I got used to it. The doctors and nurses were kind and caring and made me feel so comfortable that I ended up enjoying my doctor's visits each time. I have since decided that I want to work in the medical field, it has been my goal ever since I can remember. I have always loved helping people in any way I can. I chose to become a physician assistant because I think it is a great way to start my medical career and the programs are convenient and short. Being a medical assistant is not an easy job; it requires mental and physical functions. According to the Seventh Edition of Medical Assisting and Administrative and Clinical Skills, to become a successful medical assistant, I must acquire a specific knowledge base and skills and demonstrate specific behaviors such as professional characteristics. The medical assistant is an intermediary between the doctor and the patient, which is why the ability to think critically, analyze and communicate is very important. Furthermore, he explains that the medical assistant's general skills can be divided into...... middle of paper ...... or if they want to advance further in the medical field. Opportunities for advancement as a Medical Assistant are high, for me I would like to advance and probably, over time, become a Registered Nurse (RN). I know this means more education while working and also less time to spend with friends and family.
