Jenny Craig Diet: FeaturesThe main premise of the Jenny Craig Diet is that participants eat pre-packaged, pre-measured, processed meals that are delivered to the participant's home. Counselors are available to help them achieve their long-term goals and teach participants how to avoid emotional eating. There is some flexibility in allowing participants to eat out or also enjoy an occasional snack (“Health and Wellbeing,” 2014). Pros/Pros and Cons/ConsAccording to nutritionists who have reviewed several top-rated diets, as reported in U.S. News and World Report, the Jenny Craig diet is safe, nutritionally balanced, and convenient. Weight loss can be consistent and easy to achieve, and therefore may reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke among participants (“Health and Wellbeing,” 2014). However, because meals are delivered and prepackaged, this may not teach the participant the proper way to cook or purchase food. The fear, of course, is that once pre-packaged meals and snacks are no longer available. The dieter will no longer be able to determine what is best for their ongoing nutritional and dietary needs.RecommendationsI would not recommend Jenny Craig to a dieter due to the implication of prepackaged and processed meals. I firmly believe that eating fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables and being able to prepare your own meals is a great advantage in weight management. Atkins Diet: CharacteristicsThe Atkins diet is based on the principle that a low-carbohydrate diet will help the body burn fat. . Items such as simple carbohydrates are limited so that the body can burn fat already stored in the body. Allowed foods are rich in protein. This may involve trial and error, as in my case. Many diets, especially those that require payment in some form, will provide excellent results.
