I found that the first few days I was so used to going to the gas station and getting a cup of coffee or a bottle of tea that I stopped there without thinking. I also realized that making coffee was something my kids loved doing, so the first few days they kept making a pot of coffee and the smell made me want a cup, but I refrained from it. take one. Change in my thinking towards addiction This has definitely changed my thought process about addiction. I knew that addiction isn't always about choice, but this experience brought new perspectives to my mind. I can understand in some ways how difficult it is to change a behavior, because it's not always as simple as choosing not to use a substance. I can also see how it becomes difficult to not relapse because I would think about how I could go back to caffeine once this was done and not get to the point I was at before I started this.
