    Few generations have had the power to impact our natural environments with man-made structures on a global scale. The last century has brought many technological advances that have allowed buildings to become taller, bridges to lengthen and the quality of life to improve in the most remote regions. However, with these achievements, humanity developed a need to improve what was once considered cutting-edge technology and introduce new engineering initiatives to renovate America's deteriorating infrastructure. I believe that a new study approach involving finite element analysis and a transition to composite materials will build more efficient designs and provide sustainable energy solutions for future generations. The prospect of studying for a PhD in civil engineering has always inspired me to think creatively and improve existing design methods. I would like to study at Louisiana State University for my doctorate in civil engineering so that I can further my research and contribute to the understanding of various physical phenomena encountered in civil engineering. I chose to conduct my research on composite materials and the effective design of concrete and steel elements to mitigate seismic and wind loads through structural control of structures to promote critical infrastructure development and environmental sustainability . To improve the social well-being of the individual, I chose to focus on the safety and technological development of clean energy harvesting with wind turbines. In particular, I wanted to improve the structure of wind turbines and their efficiency by implementing blades manufactured with unprecedented levels of precision through the use of reinforced composite materials. Using finite element analysis and SolidWorks computer-aided modeling, these new blades could be designed to exact tolerances unattainable with conventional steel designs. Engineering not only provides the infrastructure for a community to succeed, but it is central to who I am. Although I expect studies and future career in civil engineering to be challenging, I look forward to a degree that will allow me to build projects to build a better future. I believe a doctorate in civil engineering from Louisiana State University will better prepare me for the future..
