    In high school, being able to give a proper speech was a necessary requirement to graduate. After that day, I felt a sense of relief, and also a lot of accomplishment within myself, but more than anything, I was relieved to know that I would never have to do that again. Boy, was I wrong. I got to college and in my last term of the year I had to take a public speaking class. At first, I was totally happy because I thought if I could get a ninety-five out of a hundred in high school, my first speech in college would be a breeze. Boy, was I wrong. Get the original essay On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, I gave a narrative speech in which I was supposed to talk about my culture and where I come, without forgetting that I was the first. I felt very scared during my narrative speech and had difficulty concentrating because I started forgetting a lot of things I had written about. Overall, I felt like I hadn't reached my full potential. Before that, we had an introductory speech in which we simply introduced ourselves, and I feel like I did a lot better with that one because it was more spontaneous than the story where I had time to train a lot, which scared me. I liked certain things in my speeches, like my tone of voice which I found very strong. I would like to improve the flow of my speeches because I found myself using “like” and “um”. I also have to be aware of time when giving speeches. In my public speaking class, I would like to learn how to edit the material. that I had written, and that it was stranger than trying to remember word by word. Right now I believe I'm a soft-footed speaker, meaning I'm too careful when speaking because I'm more afraid of messing up than actually remembering the fact, so it affects the overall flow things. In the future, I aspire to be a very fast-paced speaker where everything flows simply because I know the facts, I just have a problem with the delivery. Overall, I feel like I have the wherewithal to become the speaker I know I can be, but practice makes perfect!
