Other accounts cite Palin's waning influence in the political sphere and her attitude during the 2008 election campaign. John Avlon's article titled “Why Sarah Palin's Reputation Has Plummeted as Bill Clinton's has grown" discusses the ideas put forward about why Sarah Palin's once-solid reputation within the Republican Party has changed dramatically since the 2008 presidential election. Avlon says: "Palin n 'is more sparks the kind of passion that has sold magazines and divided families. Houston says, “I decided a long time ago to never walk in anyone’s shadow. If I fail, if I succeed, at least I will live as I believe. No matter what they take from me, they can't take away my dignity. Throughout her political career, including during the 2008 campaign, Palin was demeaned for her principles and actions.
