Essay / Critical Analysis: It Always Costs By David Suzuki
Throughout his text, Suzuki makes no reference to the authorities. Not only does it lack evidence as to the origin of the information, it fails to acknowledge the potential authors who might have inspired it. Furthermore, he cannot prove the extent of his research. To write an article involving such a strong opinion, it is important to do some research to support your arguments and make your thesis plausible. Although Suzuki has many excellent examples that give integrity to his thesis, there is no sign of reference to any authority. This leads to a loss of credibility. However, it must be taken into account that David Suzuki is himself an authority figure. Another factor to consider is how the argument is presented. Many examples support this argument, but there is no so-called structure in the text. It's just example after example, all supporting his view that technology always costs, which is essentially his only argument. Although it is clear from the start that Suzuki will discuss the place of technology in society, he mainly describes how unpredictable they are and how the negative usually outweighs the negative.
