Can Sekolah Harapan reduce or prevent the social problem in our country? Sekolah Harapan is not the solution to prevent social disease, as there are several reasons for it. Conservative commentators in Muslim-majority Malaysia have complained that Sekolah harapan actually encourages premarital sex, particularly among teenagers. According to Wikipedia, the definition of premarital sex is sex between unmarried people. Teenagers will feel safe as they are protected by Sekolah Harapan as a refuge. So, they are not afraid of having sex before marriage. Thus, it may increase social illness in adolescents when they socialize without limitation. As we know, there are many adolescents outside, either they are still in school or they have not had sex before marriage and this problem especially occurs among Muslim adolescents . According to Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said twenty-one cases of premarital sex were reported, with twelve cases occurring in rural areas and nine cases in urban areas. So, as a society, we should discourage unmarried teenage girls from any sexual activity that could lead to pregnancy. So we should view those who become pregnant as bad role models for other students. It is therefore reasonable to require pregnant students to leave school when their condition is known. According to Nurul Syazwani, based on the statistics from year to year, many cases of baby dumping have been reported. The Sekolah harapan should be extended nationwide because this is how the government wanted to help the student who dropped out because they left their studies either compulsorily or voluntarily. Sekolah Harapan also wanted that the Safeg...... middle of paper ...... should be strengthened with the concept based on life. Secondly, the youth missionary program must be improved and integrated and the responsible party must combat the trafficking of pornographic materials. Clearly, prevention efforts and religious guidance must begin early in life, so that they can wisely stay away from premarital sex. In conclusion, Sekolah Harapan is not the best way to prevent social disease in our country. Not only can this school empower pregnant girls, it can also make social problems worse. There are ways and methods that the government can apply especially in an Islamic context such as punishing students who made a mistake or the government has also emphasized on Islamic and moral education since primary education . Last but not least, Sekolah Harapan should not be extended to the whole country.
