    Water is an essential resource for sustaining life. It is a colorless, odorless and transparent liquid that forms seas, lakes, rivers and rain on Earth. Water covers three-quarters of the earth's surface, but in fact, about 97% of the water is salt water and only 2.5% is fresh water. Most fresh water is found in the form of glaciers and only 1% of the water can be used by humans (USGS, 2014). Water has many impacts on our health, our lifestyles and the prosperity of communities in general. First of all, one of the health impacts of water is that it helps us maintain the balance of our bodily fluids. Approximately 60% of our body is made up of water and these bodily fluids are necessary for digestion, circulation and regulating our body temperature (Web MD, 2014). Water also contributes to the progress of detoxification in our body by eliminating waste through sweat and urination (Mind Body Green, 2012). However, a sufficient supply of drinking water is the prerequisite for these positive health effects.
