    Watching the movie “Born on the 4th of July” really gave me a whole new perspective on war in general. It really showed me what soldiers faced in Vietnam. Before watching this movie, I thought that soldiers could choose any profession they wanted and have all the luxurious perks. I always seem to hear the positive aspects of war, instead of hearing the negative aspects that occur in the armed forces. In this movie we see the typical American soldier who wants to go to Vietnam to fight for his country. When he arrives, he gets more than he expects. He is shot in the back and in the foot. The doctor tells him that he could be paralyzed for the rest of his life and will not be able to start a family. Say no to plagiarism. Seeing this glorious scene really touched a nerve in my heart. It made me think about the soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War and those who lost their lives. I didn't understand how someone could fight for this country and be treated so badly. I now understand why many soldiers still face dilemmas to this day. Even though I'm only eighteen, I can only imagine how many soldiers were forced to do something they didn't want to do. This film made me change my mind about joining the armed forces. This showed me that many recruiters will tell you the positive things about joining the military; instead of telling you the truth. Many people should rethink what they are getting themselves into before deciding whether or not to enter the military. My heart goes out to the soldiers who fought for this country.
