Social networking sites are various websites created to allow users to create profiles and establish relationships with other users within the same website. On the website, people express their thoughts and feelings, participate in public discussions, chat privately, and develop their ideas or creativity. Political opinions and friendships are also influenced on the web. It is an important part of today's society. Many critics have different and sensitive views on the importance of social networking sites. Carl Bialik focuses on the principle of creating social networking sites. Julia Angwin expresses how social media sites affect each individual's identity. Canada's commissioner adds to Angwin's ideas about identity and expresses how ideas become property. Additionally, Neal Conan expands on the effect of reconnecting with a friend, life safety as it relates to how safe people feel behind a screen, and the role of the law on this insecurity. These questions open a door to the theme of freedom. How do social networks affect everyone's freedom? Rip! A Remix Manifesto directed by Brett Gaylor touches on the freedom of creativity and ideas. Although social networking sites are intended to help maintain friendships, the danger of these sites challenges how people perceive their identities due to changes in online privacy. Friendship is a strong bond between two people that can last a lifetime, even eternity. A friendship is having a person who supports you, who is there during countless trials in your life, who values you as a person and who never turns his back on this bond.
