On the website, people express their thoughts and feelings, participate in public discussions, chat privately, and develop their ideas or creativity. Political opinions and friendships are also influenced on the web. It is an important part of today's society. Many critics have different and sensitive views on the importance of social networking sites. Carl Bialik focuses on the principle of creating social networking sites. Julia Angwin expresses how social media sites affect each individual's identity. Canada's commissioner adds to Angwin's ideas about identity and expresses how ideas become property. Additionally, Neal Conan expands on the effect of reconnecting with a friend, life safety as it relates to how safe people feel behind a screen, and the role of the law on this insecurity.
