In “Art is a Waste of Time” it is said that “the impact of art increases as it reaches a wider audience” (Southan, 439). So, for example, the more people who see a photo of a police officer beating a black man, the more impact it will have and the more people will empathize and want to do something to bring about change, raising awareness so to the problem. Through art we learn about many problems happening in the world and without it we would just be a chaotic world full of unconscious people. Art can also bring awareness to different cultures because often people are ignorant or disrespectful to people from different cultures because they don't know anything about them. If people are exposed to different cultures, whether in settings like school or the workplace, they will be more aware of them. In this way, everyone will be respectful of each other regarding their culture, beliefs and values. I think the world would benefit from being aware of its culture, because that would lead to a respect that would bring some peace to the world.
