  • Essay / The Blind Side - 1121

John Lee Hancock's film, The Blind Side, is a must-see. The Blind Side is a semi-biographical film based on the life of a football player named Michael Oher. The film was produced in 2009 by Warner Bros. Production Company. The film showcases the work of talented actors and actresses, some familiar and others new to the world of theater. The names of the main characters are: Sandra Bullock, who plays the role of Mrs. Tuohy, Tim McGraw, who plays Mr. Tuohy, and newcomer Quinton Aaron, who plays the lead role of Michael Oher. Even though the film seems to rise above the over-the-top clichés, it excels tremendously in the acting, setting, and encouraging and inspiring relationships. For these reasons, I personally think the film is worth watching because it teaches individuals to not judge people by their race but by their character and actions. The film exposes and analyzes the life story of NFL player Michael Oher through high school as he endures various adversities and difficulties in his life. It tells the story of Oher, son of a cocaine addict mother and an absent father, homeless due to his family's situation. Although he didn't have either of his parents in his life, he did have Big Tony, who was his friend's father. Big Tony would allow Michael to sleep on his couch some days when he had nowhere to live and he was also the main cause of Michael's admission to Wingate Academy Christian School. At this school, Michael meets SJ, who is the Tuohy's son. SJ begins a friendship with Michael at a time when no one else would and one rainy day after SJ's Thanksgiving play, the Tuohys see Michael walking. They ask him ...... middle of paper ......c accommodation. Throughout the film there are lessons that are taught. Whether it's the central theme of not judging someone by their skin color but their character or showing the essence of what family really is. Thanks to the setting, the acting and the relationships shown, everything comes together to make the perfect film. I recommend everyone to see this film at least once in their life, because the lessons depicted in it are valuable. It's the perfect movie to watch with the family and makes you grateful for everyone you have in your life. The film brings joy, happiness, tears, laughter and much more. I can definitely say that the movie is worth buying and watching. Works Cited The Blind Side. Director: John Lee Hancock. Perf. Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and Quinton Aaron. Warner Bros., 2009. Film.
