After earning a degree in sociology and politics from Saint Paul University in Tokyo, he moved to Los Angeles in 1970 and attended the Art Central College of Design. His work involves using computer software to reduce complex photographs or short films and transform them into basic, figurative cartoons. He is known for his series Imagine You Are (where he demonstrates how everyday activities can be depicted through simple reductions) and for his depiction of cartoon-like pole dancers, and for his minimalist portraits, which sometimes morph into series where he draws the same people adding new details several times (sunglasses, necklaces, etc.).
