Even though it is difficult and sometimes stressful, nursing is one of the most exciting and in-demand jobs in America today. Because of its shortage, it is also a rewarding career. There are a huge selection of types of work you can actually do, from pediatrics, geriatrics, oncology, labor and delivery, critical care to home care or public health nursing . They may even be hired by pharmaceutical or medical device companies. There are so many different directions nursing can take you. Seeing my grandmother who is seriously ill has further motivated me to help the underserved population. That's when I became interested in nursing. However, I want to work with people where I would make a bigger difference in their lives. Being a nurse is part of the medical profession and it can be rewarding both mentally and financially. Another reason I chose nursing is because there is a need and the need is growing every year. I grew up in a small community and want to serve the type of people who surrounded me when I was growing up, especially those who don't have adequate access to healthcare. It’s a great feeling knowing that I provided care that allowed them to recover and recover. An old lady coming out of the hospital said goodbye to everyone. Before leaving, she told the nurse, “Physiotherapy taught me how to walk, but you gave me my life back.” » Ever since I was little, I dreamed of being a registered nurse. I am inspired by my cousin who wanted to pursue a career in nursing, but didn't have the opportunity. So it's almost like I'm trying to accomplish that for her. I am doing my best to pursue and achieve my goal in hopes of having the opportunity that my cousin did not have: becoming a registered nurse. Right now, my main priority is to keep my dream alive and make my parents proud. Most registered nurses work directly with patients and their families. They are the contact between families and the medical world, in hospitals and in patients' homes. A nurse performs frequent assessments of the patient and checks vital signs to ensure everything is going as planned.
