For summer reading, I read two books, The Loved One by Evelyn Waugh and Endurance by Alfred Lansing. In The Loved One, it's mainly about Dennis and Aimee's relationship and Mr. Joyboy and Aimee's relationship and how she doesn't know who to love. Aimee becomes engaged to Dennis but then marries Mr. Joyboy. Later, Aimée feels that it won't work. She calls Mr. Slump for help and he tells her, "Do it! I'll tell you what to do. Just take the elevator to the top floor. Find a nice window and jump. That's what you can do. I told him to do it. Aimee then took Mr. Slump's advice and went to Mr. Joyboy's office and committed suicide by injection. another book Endurance was about an explorer named Sir Ernest Shackleton and he was the leader of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, which had twenty-seven men on the ship called Endurance, and which was to cross the Antarctic continent. In short, the. Endurance gets stuck in the ice and can't move So they left the boat and went to South Georgia Island They tried to survive the weather and stay alive. the books, The Loved One and Endurance, which relate to me, other books and the world The two books I read reminded me of myself and my life. First in The Loved One when Dennis' friend Sir Francis committed suicide and Dennis had to plan the funeral and how he should choose a pose, what coffin he should choose and what clothes Sir Francis should wear . It reminded me that when my grandfather died, my family had to do the same thing as Dennis for Sir Francis' funeral. Dennis worked at a funeral home and pet cemetery called Happier Hunting Ground and how Mr. Joyboy had to...... middle of paper ...... how I did the same with my parakeets of companionship. The text-to-text connection was in the similarities between the poem The Love Song by J. Alfred Prufrock and the book The Loved One by Evelyn Waugh and how they both talked about love and how they had problems with it. this and don't know what. TO DO. Finally, the connection between the two books and the world was in Endurance. In the news you hear about a ship going missing and the people who survived the sinking. It's like in the book how they had to survive when they left their ship. There were many connections between the books and my life, with other books, and with the world. Works Cited John, Hersey,.
