This film was able to show aspects of race and ethnicity, social class, and the relationships between social structure and social stratification. I thought the film had a great impact on a different view of society and that some aspects shown in the film were related to modern society; like roles in families and in yourself and how they see and treat the world differently through their perspective. Additionally, power played a huge role in the film; without power, you are not yourself. To live your life, you have to take control. On the other hand, I guess the characters developed a lot in their personalities throughout the film and it had a positive impact on themselves. Neil says: “For the first time in my life, I know what I want to do! And for the first time, I'm going to do it! Whether my father likes it or not! Carpe diem” (Haft, Witt, Thomas and Weir, 1989).
