Essay / Summary of The Canterbury Tales: The Tale of the Wife of Bath
What if one day, everything you seem to perceive was transformed in an instant? Because of this, your whole world is turned upside down. All of this happened to me in one day. All it took was one moment, and it would forever reshape the way things should be done. It may seem surprising that no one is ever prepared for a moment like this. However, unfortunately, the truth is that even the worst can happen when you least expect it. It was one of the most beautiful days of summer, I remember it as if it were yesterday. It was a usual Saturday morning. In our household, usually as a family, we clean the house. But of course, this Saturday was a little different. My father had gone to work, so at home there. If you can't tell the story apart, it's a must-read. The gist of the story is that once upon a time there was a knight who committed a horrible act, namely, raping a young girl. The king sets out to find ice for what the knight had done. All the knight had to do was pursue a quest. It was therefore a question of discovering which desire predominates among women. During his journey, he finds an ugly and decrepit woman. However, the woman promises to reveal the secret, if and only if, he agrees to let her do what her heart desires. As they return, to report to the king, the knight answers the question correctly. Now it is the woman's turn to get her desires, which results in marrying her. Repulsed by his ugliness, the woman left the choice to the knight. It could be that he married her beautiful and unfaithful, or ugly and faithful. The knight tells her to make her choice herself. Having received this response, the old woman rewarded him. Thus, she becomes beautiful and faithful to the knight. The moral of the story is that in a relationship, the woman is in charge. This shows that in our home, the woman is the head of all decisions. It's probably one of the highest positions a woman can ever reach.
