    Florida students at all levels are feeling the crisis with declining levels of education spending and poorer standardized test scores. When Governor Rick Scott took office, he proposed nearly $3.3 billion in education cuts (Bousquet and McGrory, 2014). Spending money on education is important for developing teachers, adding resources for students, and improving the facilities needed for student success. Florida's education system is evolving at all levels; therefore, I have provided some ideas and recommendations on improvements that need to take place. Jobs are rare for people without higher education. Positions that required a high school diploma have evolved to require a bachelor's degree. To prepare children for the future, education must be a priority in every state. According to the American College Test (ACT), Florida students scored an average of 19.6 out of 36, which is lower than the national average of 21. Additionally, the test administrator states that "only 19 percent of Florida students tested as college ready, compared to about a quarter.” students nationally (Benk, 2013). Florida taxpayers pay the burden when children go to college unprepared and need remedial classes. Student loans are more common to finance these courses, but the added burden of taking remedial courses also affects them in the long run. Gov. Rick Scott noted that significant cuts in education funding hurt both students and teachers. So over the past two years, Gov. Scott has increased funding by about $2 billion, which remains well short of his $3.3 billion cut to schools in his first year.
