However, I can see where people might have thought that laughing children meant family. I have a fairly large family but I don't consider myself family oriented because I hardly ever see any of them. If we all lived in the same state I'm sure that would change, but since we're spread out I see everyone maybe once every two years. The joy and laughter on the children's faces is what people were supposed to see, but when they don't know what I was thinking, I can see how differently they thought. Another photo that people don't quite understand is the beach photo. They thought I meant loving the beach or nature, which I do, but that wasn't how I wanted them to take it. I wanted them to see him as a free person and to take each day as it comes. Overall, they really felt what I was going for and the two that they didn't get weren't far off the mark. Identity is a difficult concept to understand. It's even harder to guess other people's identities from a few photos. This assignment, however, allowed me to better understand my peers and who they really are or how they want to represent themselves. I think because I had to think about what I wanted to represent to myself, it made me closer and more in touch with myself. Before this mission, I had never even thought about my identity. I now know why I chose certain aspects that represent my life. These are the things that
