Human personality and social development are influenced during the stages of young adult development which are physical, cognitive and emotional. (Crandell and Bieger, 1994) (see Figure 1 in Appendix 1). Young adults range from late teens to early twenties. During early adulthood, human thinking becomes more complex and critical as it integrates both cognitive and emotional. Young adults learn to value relationships and make decisions based on future consequences. (Aiken, 1998). At this stage, humans will develop skills and maximize their physical and intellectual capabilities. First, adolescent development is the physical changes that result in physical maturation. Adolescents experience and undergo the maturation of their bodies by changing physically from their childhood physiques and become aware of their bodily changes (Mannheim, 2014). According to Mannheim (2014), the mark of puberty in women is the menstrual cycle; while the male has nocturnal emissions which signify wet dream and also experiences penis enlargement. Physical maturation in both sexes is noticeable, that is to say, females see their chests grow bigger and their hips widen; During this time, males have facial and chest hair, and changes in their voices that become deeper. Tents are very conscious of their self-image and body, which leads them to compare themselves to their peers (Mannheim, 2014). Typically, the adolescent begins to search for his or her identity and separate from the parent. To experience multiple identities, adolescents mix and make friends with different types of people (Fritscher, 2014).
