    Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a person who had a reason to act, who acted instead of being acted upon and who influenced not only India and South Africa, but the whole world. “The French writer Romain Rolland (1866-1944) said that Gandhi was as stubborn as a mule, but a “sacred mule” (quoted in Cook). Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an extremely confident and peace-loving man, as the quote proves. Gandhi is a very important and incredibly influential person in the society we live in today. Without Gandhi's influential ideas, the world would have faced many terrible wars resulting in massive destruction and would have affected many aspects of our lives today. Issues such as British rule and the caste system pushed Gandhi into action. Great leaders and books influenced Gandhi's belief in life. Gandhi accomplished many important things in his life to solve the problems faced by many people in South Africa, but especially in India. Many people don't realize the impact Gandhi's achievements and beliefs have on the world. Indian independence was Gandhi's most important achievement and the high point of his illustrious life. Gandhi's beliefs and vision influence the world today, notably through the civil rights movements of Martin Luther King Jr. in the United States and Nelson Mandela in South Africa, but his ideas are present everywhere in the world. Thanks to these great leaders who adopted Gandhi's technique, we see the power of strong words and nonviolent actions. Gandhi was influenced by the rulings of the teachings, customs and events that were happening for centuries, the events of the present and many great books.
