    Workplace discrimination occurs when an employee experiences harsh or unfair treatment because of their race, religion, national origin, status disabled or veteran, or other legally protected characteristics. Discrimination is one of the biggest issues people face in the workplace and it must be addressed forcefully. There are different forms of discrimination that occur very often in the workplace. One way to express discrimination is to deny someone a job because of their race or gender, or to treat others unfairly because of their race or gender. Discrimination can lead to leaving a job and possibly committing an act that is harmful to oneself or to the person who caused it. More examples of different types of discrimination. First, sexual discrimination against women; Because men are the most dominant figure in today's society, they get more jobs than women. Second, there is age discrimination against young and old people in seeking or obtaining employment. Finally, people with disabilities sometimes cannot find employment due to their disability. In the workplace, it is much more difficult for women with the same education and experience as men to obtain the same position. Most of the time, if a woman gets a higher job than a man, she will receive a much lower salary than the man would receive if he had the same job. Others argue that women should simply have more opportunities to work less than a full-time schedule since they receive wages equivalent to part-time work for full-time employment (Pay Equity, par 2).
