  • Essay / Analysis of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales,...

Introduction: In this world, there are many different individuals who are not only different demographically, but also neurologically. Due to the large number of people, it is important to understand each individual first, in order to understand them better and help them in certain areas like education, work, etc…. It is for this reason that psychologists have sought to better understand individuals through the use of psychological assessments. This article aims to examine a particular assessment tool, the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales (fifth edition), which measure both intelligence and cognitive abilities (Roid, 2003). This assessment is typically administered by psychologists and scores are most often used to determine placement in academic institutions and services for children and adolescents (despite their compatibility with adults) (Wilson & Gilmore, 2012). Additionally, before the investigation dives into the details of the test, such as its strengths and weaknesses, it is best to learn more about the general characteristics of intelligence scales. General information: The test analyzed is the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, fifth. Edition (SB5) which is explained in detail through the Intelligence Assessment Technical Manual (Roid, 2003). The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales, Fifth Edition, Technical Manual and the SB5 test in general were written by Gale H. Roid (Roid, 2003). The manual was published by Riverside Publishing in 2003 after many years of development (Roid, 2003). The SB5 is an assessment of cognitive abilities and intelligence (Roid, 2003). The complete SB5 kit is provided via the publisher for the full price of $1...... middle of paper ......osh, DE, Dixon, F. Newton, J. H., & Youman, E. (2010 ) .
