  • Essay / I Of The Storm: Understanding the Suicidal Mind by...

Ashley and Katie are both young women aged eighteen and twenty. They both suffered sexual abuse from their fathers during their childhood, which took a toll on their mental state. They both had relationship problems, which is something teenagers usually experience quite often. Analyzes of their personal writings offer a very valuable insight into the adolescent minds. Their thoughts and feelings resemble those of adolescents, making their mental states and views comparable. In the Discussion section of Twitter posts in the 24 hours before the suicide, Lester references consistencies in the language Katie and Ashley used, as well as their feelings. Although not statistically significant, these similarities show that these two girls were experiencing similar feelings that could possibly be related to adolescents in general, making these two chapters combined a fair educational resource for those studying adolescence.
