  • Essay / Why should prostitution be legal - 1411

Why should prostitution be legal? Can anyone tell me what the oldest profession in the world is? (does not require education, mainly involves women) Some researchers confirm that prostitution is indeed the oldest profession, while others dispute it; however, everyone agrees that the sex-for-money trade has been around for some time. According to Wikipedia, prostitution began in the 21st century BC in the Near East, probably as a religious custom, and was practiced by the Greeks, Romans, China, and other ancient civilizations. Today, as we have entered the 21st century AD, prostitution is still a part of modern society. The fact speaks for itself: as there will always be a demand for the services it provides, prostitution will exist in one form or another no matter what. The National Prostitution Task Force suggests that more than 1 million people in the United States have, at some point, been in prostitution, with the average length of their career being 4 years. The number mentioned above is equivalent to 1% of American women. (8) Many countries have reconsidered prostitution as something necessarily bad and against the law by legalizing it. England, France, Germany, Denmark, Canada and Israel are among them. However, prostitution remains illegal in the United States, excluding 11 of Nevada's 17 counties. Isn't it time to accept it as part of our reality and try to regulate it? Before going any further, I would like to say that I will not seek to justify prostitution or vice versa, it is up to each person to decide. It's up to you to decide the morality of the issue. And secondly, for the purposes of this speech, I would like to define the term legalization. Most contexts use it to refer to any system that authorizes some type of prostitution.
