Peace is a state of harmony in which there is no violence or conflict between people or groups, especially in personal relationships. Peace is an essential element in drawing closer to God and being a faithful adherent of Him. Islam and Christianity have similar views on achieving inner peace through the actions of Jesus Christ in the New Testament and through the words of the Quran and the prophets (Hadith). Through the sacred texts of these religious traditions, the adherent is guided toward the ultimate goal of achieving inner peace. The primary source of Christianity to guide the adherent to inner peace is Jesus Christ. Jesus plays a central role, as he is the model that guides every living adherent toward inner peace. Through the actions of Jesus and the teachings of "agape love" (selfless love) and miracles, especially in the healing of the blind man (Mark 8:22-25), believers are able to understand the importance compassion and love for people. Throughout the Gospel of John, peace is strongly represented through various stories, as we see Jesus as the model of inclusion, forgiveness and love towards those who are the outcasts of society, regardless of gender , race and social lines of his society. Through the parable of the “Women at the Well” (John 4:4), we see Jesus asking a Samaritan woman for water. During this period, conflicts broke out between Jews and Samaritans. Once again, this showed followers of Christianity the importance of resolving conflicts in order to achieve peace, which will ultimately guide the adherent to inner peace. In today's society, the New Testament gives individuals the ability to read about Jesus' selfless acts and peaceful approach to others, so that they can imitate him in their own lives.The Adherent... .... middle of paper ...... I think Islam is a violent religion from various individuals. This may be the case with gangs such as the Taliban, but there are various organizations such as the "Islamic Peace Foundation" (IPF) that promote and emphasize the importance of peace. The IPF promotes peace by educating Muslims about the importance of peace, emphasizing that Islam places "peace before aggression." Even if violence is the response of some, like the Taliban, to the Foundation, the guiding principle must be “peaceful means to peaceful ends.” In conclusion, it is evident that Christianity and Islam, through their sacred texts and their founders, have enabled and provided adherents with a path to achieve inner peace. By following in the footsteps of the founders, members can achieve this inner peace for themselves and thus make a difference for themselves and their world...
