Essay / Tannu Tuva - 1133
Tannu TuvaI first heard of you in April 1999. I was researching time travel and asked a colleague if he had any very varied on physics. He gave me a book called “The Feynman Lectures on Physics.” I didn't know the book or you, but I read it to see if there was any information I could use. There was a bit of it, although it was more abstract than is usually necessary in electronics. After gleaning all the information I could, I returned the book and talked to my online friend, he started talking about you, how you got to give them a talk. at MIT, and that you are a fascinating person. He said he even got to meet you after the conference. Of course, none of this meant anything to me, and I thought it was just a physics student's admiration for a great professor. But now I understand what my friend had to know and couldn't convey to me. I kind of forgot about this whole episode and it seems like in 2002 I was watching PBS and the series was about an adventure in a place called Tuva. . It seemed interesting so I continued watching it. Your name was mentioned and I woke up, having remembered the name on the physics book. As I continued to watch, I began to realize that it was you who was being interviewed as you told the story of Tannu Tuva. I was a little impressed and amazed that THIS was the same guy who had taught the physics lessons I had used in my research. The next day, I went to see my friend (the one who had lent me the book years ago) and told him what I had seen. He was amused and in fact he also knew Tuva for some reason. So now I understood and he understood that I understood. But it was over for the moment and I didn't think about it anymore. Then at the end of 1994, probably in December if I remember correctly, I was looking for something somewhere, either in an online service or in an encyclopedia, I don't remember. It was one of those searches that takes you from one article to another and once you're done, you don't remember where you were (or maybe what you were looking for in the first place).).
