George doesn't really believe this is going to happen, but just to make Lennie happy, he tells it all, from the beginning, over and over again, whenever he wants. This shows how patient George is and how much he loves Lennie. Racism Another problem we encounter in the workplace is racism. The groom named Crooks is the only black man on the farm and is constantly subjected to insults from the people on the farm. He cannot stay where the other workers are staying or even play cards with them. They treat him like a second-class person, which makes him become a loner. He also devotes himself to books, but this treatment affects him deeply. Here the author called attention to the racism that was frequently seen in America at that time and stated how badly it affected people and that there was actually no difference between races..
