  • Essay / My Changes in Psychosocial Development - 914

Erikson proposed a model of psychosocial development across the lifespan, establishing eight stages through adulthood. These stages each require different actions on the part of human beings to determine their development. As we experience things in life, we can tell a story based on Erikson's stages of psychosocial development. Each stage of Erikson's development requires different types of acts on the part of human beings so that we can determine personality development. Erikson's Stages gave me the opportunity to examine my life since birth at various stages. The channel of life I have been through since my early childhood and most stages of my adult life. The first stage is trust versus distrust that occurs between birth and one year of age. This stage depends on how the parents take care of their child. This is what helps me as a child determine whether or not the child will trust the world. Trust is seeing the world, the environment, as a safe place and distrust is seeing it as a scary place. As a child, I had to learn to trust those around me to keep me safe. At this stage, the fundamental optimism is confidence and security. If I didn't receive proper care, I would face distrust. The second stage is the autonomy versus shame phase. In this stage, I learn to develop my personal skills and sense. At the toddler stage, I don't remember much only what I was told. This level generally begins around age 2 and continues until age 3. My mother told me that I always demonstrated layers of independence from embarrassment and self-doubt. During this time, she mentioned that I was mobile at home. I consider this mobility as a freedom. This basically means that my mother provides me with constant encouragement. This is what helped me develop... middle of paper ...... and I had time to reflect on their accomplishments throughout my life (McCarthy & Archer, 2013 section, 2.2). Erikson's stages gave me a chance to examine my life since birth in various stages. The channel of life that I have traveled since my early childhood and most stages of my adult life. Erikson's Psychosocial Development has helped me understand changes throughout my life. Erikson Stages is a set of guides to prepare me for adulthood. I learned that each stage is some form of representation of a fundamental change in life. Erikson's psychosocial theory discovers that our development normally takes place through nine stages of development which have a moral concept of life itself.ReferencesWorks CitedMcCarthy, CJ and Archer, J., Jr. (2013).
