  • Essay / Employee Motivation Case Study - 784

Identify and relate practices used by organizations to motivate employees to applicable motivation theories found in the text. We interviewed Gintell Co., located at Salon Commercial des Mines L1-31. Jalan Dulang, Seri Kembangan. When can relate the practices used by Gintell Co. to motivate its employees in organizations using Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory. Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory includes physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization needs. The theory explains the different needs and levels of psychological and physical needs of humans. Needs will be met starting at the lower level before reaching the higher level of the theory. If physiological and safety needs are not met, then the person is not motivated. A physiological need is the need for food, air, water, shelter, etc. A psychological need is a major source of human motivation. Firstly (physiological needs), Gintell Co. cares about the well-being of its employees. They meet the physiological needs of their employees by giving them a living wage. But their salary is based on the employee's performance, for example, they will receive more commissions if they manage to render service to many customers. So far, Gintell Co. has not provided shelter for its employee. According to the interview, the employee said he is satisfied because he receives his salary on time every month, even if the specified date is a public holiday or weekend. Additionally, there are many food stores nearby, so employees do not need to worry because they will not starve while working with Gintell Co. The second stage of Maslow's needs is the need for security , i.e. the need for a secure environment. ..... middle of paper ......eds. Maslow describes this level as the desire to achieve what one can and refers to a person's full potential and the realization of that potential. According to the interviewee, at Gintell Co., if they want to get a higher commission on their sale, it is better for them to work individually rather than working in a group. They will thus realize their sales generation potential by being more persuasive to attract more customers. At this point, employees will focus on what they are good at. For example, if they realize their potential, they will work hard to hone their skills and take them to a higher position. Employees will do anything to realize their desire to obtain a higher position. This needs stage is complicated compared to Maslow's lower needs. Employees must not only reach the lower level of needs, but also master them..
