An article written by Mark Bara states that a study showed: A large majority of studies reviewed show that children from single-parent (SP) families perform lower on tests of cognitive functioning and standardized tests, receive lower grade point averages lower and complete fewer years of school when affected. compared to children from two-parent homes (TP). Most of these studies and research need to be updated. Times have changed, there are more single parent households than ever. Of these, 8.7 million households are headed by a single mother and 1.5 million are headed by a single father. Many single parents raise successful children.
