  • Essay / Newspaper report on a town - 512

Newspaper report on a townI'm going to write a newspaper article about my town, it's called Luton. It's thirty miles north of London. And has a population of around 187,000 people. Its main features are the airport, currently being expanded, and the Vauxhall factory. The neighborhood I live in is called Wigmore. It is located on the edge of the town and backs onto the countryside. There are a number of small villages beyond Wigmore, Tea Green, which has a small golf course, and Cockernhoe, which has a small primary school. They both have very few houses, as well as a church and of course a pub. All the houses on my street are four or three bedroom houses. They all have front and rear gardens as well as a park. This is a great feature because it allows children to play in the comfort of their own drive; This is very reassuring for parents. If you go off my route there is a main road which if you follow it will either take you to Wigmore Valley Park which is a huge playground right next to the airport. It is used mainly in summer, when families have picnics, fun and games, and people walk their dogs. If you go in the other direction you will be taken to the local supermarket, ASDA. It's the second busiest attraction in my area, after the airport. The supermarket stocks everything you can think of, from designer clothes to ready-made meals to your daily groceries. It also has a music and video store which offers a number of high-end products as well as an extensive archive of vintage music and videos. And all this at exceptionally low prices. If you go a little further than ASDA you will reach the Ashcroft area, that's where my school is. My school is a computer communications school, which means that its main interest is to me.
