Who should be the ultimate decision maker in deciding how many children a person can have? Imagine having a child who doesn't know what it's like to have a sibling. In China, the “One Child Policy” law prohibits families from having more than one child. People around the world must act and help repeal the law. This law was enacted to prevent the population from growing. Many people begin to rebel and protests break out and claim innocent lives. The "one-child policy" should be abolished because it violates human rights and creates other problems for China. Although this law has some positive effects, the negative effects outweigh the positive effects. Under the reign of Mao Tse-tung, China's population reached nearly a million people. Mao allowed couples to have as many children as they wanted because to him, “of all things in the world, people are the most precious” (Fitzpatrick 2). As the population continued to grow, the government became concerned and decided that population control was necessary in order to remain able to provide for China's citizens. Additionally, the government was concerned that there would not be enough food to support the residents. The next leader, Deng Xioping, created the “one-child policy,” preventing families from having more than one child. On September 25, 1980, the policy was instituted. Subsequently, this law prohibited children and parents from starting a large family. In the eyes of the government, this policy was remarkable, but they do not know how many families the law damaged. The decline in the number of babies being born has an impact on the traditional family structure. “On the roads of the town, there are slogans written on flaming red banners, telling people...... in the middle of a paper...... their work. This bonus continues until their child turns fourteen. Another positive point is that if the parents are both only children, they have the privilege of having a second child. Additionally, the policy reduced the population by more than half, which was the policy's plan. Solutions: • Couples who choose not to have children should be able to give their privilege of having a child to another couple who wants a second child. The "one-child policy" should be abolished because it violates human rights and creates other problems for China. This policy has positive and negative effects, but the negatives outweigh the positives. Overall, the "one-child policy" has created many conflicts for China's present and future. This law must be repealed before China is ruined in many aspects. In conclusion, the “one child policy” has caused many useful and horrible things to happen in China..
